Our annual raffle draw this year will be held on June 11, 2020.
For the last 40 years, CWL has been selling raffle tickets across churches in Hong Kong for eight weeks around Easter time.
This year we have not been able to go to the churches because of the Covid-19 shutdown. We are therefore reaching out to you and your friends to buy the tickets or if possible, make a donation to the League.
The raffle is our biggest fundraiser and the money raised will be used to help the poor and marginalized. Almost 80% of the funds raised are used for our tutorial subsidy program that supports about 45 students from underprivileged families every year.
You are only a phone call away. If you would like to buy raffle tickets all you need to do is call Alison at 2523-9815, or email her at [email protected].
CWL celebrated its 80thanniversary on 17 November 2017. The evening began with a Thanksgiving mass at the Cathedral concelebrated by Bishop Michael Yeung, Fr John Russell, Fr Lawrence Lee, Fr Dominic Chan, Fr Michael Cuddigan and Fr Terrence Mascarenhas. About 90 guests attended the event that included members, benefactors, beneficiaries, students and friends. This was followed by a tea reception at the Caritas Community Hall.
On 18 August 2016, CWL celebrated the 90th birthday of Fr Russell, our spiritual director, and his completion of 25 years at the organization. The day began with a Thanksgiving Mass at the Catholic Centre followed by lunch at a nearby club. It was a day of prayer, celebration and a lot of fun. (For more details read page 2 and 3 of our September Newsletter)
On Tuesday, 16 February 2016, 15 CWL members went to Macau on a pilgrimage to visit four holy sites that have rich historical significance. They visited St Lawrence Church, St Joseph’s Seminary and Church, the Ruins of St Paul and the Cathedral of Macau. They were led by Sister Margaret from Macau on this trip.
